kongI was making the movie ‘Kong’s Island’ with Chappy Jennings, when we received an invitation to the Mt Woodgee farm.

Nick had been making beautiful boards up on the mountain for years, but very, very few crew were allowed entry. My invite represented a golden ticket, and I felt really special to be part of the Mt Woodgee family.

I became a traveling professional in 1984, but always remained in close contact with my mates from Mt Woodgee.

Nick shaped me several boards in 1988 on my way to a 2nd place finish in the ASP. Later – in 1991 – I returned to Mt Woodgee in search of boards that would give me an edge. They certainly did. Ian Byrne shaped all boards that year, and again 2nd in the world was the result.

kongmodelNow, 15 years later, I have returned to Australia to live and I’m still surfing Mt Woodgee surfboards. I remain amazed at the quality and craftsmanship in every board. I have not seen a group of people put as much pride in their work as the crew at Mt Woodgee. These guys are mind-blowing interpretive shapers – so experienced at taking your ideas and turning into better surfing performance through the board.

World famous channel bottoms, to flat bottoms, to guns to fish and retros….individually hand-shaped boards, and the best glassing and finishing I’ve seen in the world. That’s what Mt Woodgee’s all about.

Check it out. Like me, you’ll get exactly what you want!!
