Now after more than 25 years since Nick sold his first board, current
surfboard shapers Ian Byrne & Wayne McKewen are correctly regarded
as being amongst the very best hand shapers in the world.
Mt Woodgee are proud to be one of the few manufacturers in the world
that are dedicated to handcrafting surfboards from start to finish, and to
keeping all production under one roof under our direct control and
supervision. The least experienced craftsman in our production team
has been with us ten years.
Several of the world’s highest profile professional surfers buy Mt Woodgee surfboards (yes – actually pay for them!), before putting on their surfboard sponsor’s logos.
Top WCT contender, Bede Durbidge, showcases the Mt Woodgee surfboards around the world with his stunning power surfing and smooth style.
Multiple World Masters Champion and WCT legend Gary ‘Kong’ Elkerton, continues to blow minds and blast lips on Mt Woodgee surfboards. ‘Elko’ remains a devoted fan of the ‘formula one’ of surfboard design – the master handcrafted six-channel bottom.
Mt Woodgee also has three thriving company stores. Retail staff are selected specifically for their personal alignment to Mt Woodgee ideals and traditions. They are trained in surfboard design and dynamics to a level unmatched in any organisation. Anywhere.
The farmhouse theme is prevelant in the retail outlets and clothing ranges remain tied to Mt Woodgee's origins via the famous ‘farmhouse on mountain’ trademarked icon.
Importantly, despite the success of Mt Woodgee’s surfboards, retail network and clothing manufacture/wholesaling; the crew still surf – religiously. Founder and Director Nick sums it up beautifully:
“Well…we pretty much still live a similar life to the days back on the mountain… except now I have running water and a few less snakes!” |
